The same root and culture create a natural affability between cross-border ethnic groups, which lives in different countries. However, belonging to different political system always promotes or hinders the intercourse between cross-border ethnic groups. The thesis takes Dong Sa village as an example, which locates in the border of Sino-Vietnam, to probe into how the national power extends into the village and what influence it brings to the boundary residents'life. The ethnic groups of Zhuang and Nong which live along the border of Sino-Vietnam of Guangxi have the same root. They have kept friendly relationship for a long time. During the middle and later of the 1970s, China and Vietnam was trapped into the territorial disputes in the border of Sino-Vietnam and then caused the counterattack in self-defense on China-Vietnam border finally. The friendly relationship between two countries was broken, and the intercourse between the boundary residents was affected too. Under the call of Chinese government, Chinese boundary residents supported the related policy to assist the army during the counterattack in self-defense. In the author's opinion, national power has established the sense of national identity in boundary residents'life before 1949. After the foundation of new China, with the prosecution of kinds of polity and economy reforms, national power extended its impact on every aspects of villagers'life by making use of the traditional habits in villages and relying on the leading control of the state awareness. In border area, this process was also influenced by the feature of cross-border ethnic groups and the counterattack in self-defense. The national power infiltration is playing a significant role in solidifying and reinforcing the sense of national identity in people's mind, which has a vital role in consolidating frontiers.
