The paper takes<Jia You Er Nv> and<Growing Pains> as objects of study. On the basis of reading two sitcoms, analyze Chinese and American parents'parenting behavior.Parenting behavior is the process of parents taking some strategies to children in order to let them in an ideal situation during educating and growing children. Parenting behavior consists of explicit elements and implicit elements. Explicit elements contain main body, inciting incident, purpose, result, strategy, quality, production; implicit elements contain parenting expectation, relation and cognition.The results of comparing Chinese parenting behavior with American as follow: (1)Strategy:there are some differences between two nations'facing child's study, interest, mistake, plight, kindness and success, conflict. (2)Result:the achievement of Chinese is lower than American. (3)Quality:the negative emotion of Chinese is higher than American with the neutral emotion lower. (4)Main body:there are no absent both in two nations'parenting behavior; (5)Production——child behavior: child behavior is the process of child taking appropriate manner to make his/her motivation and purpose come true which emerged by stimulation, there are some differences between two nations'in some backgrounds; (6)Parenting expectation: Chinese parents expect child to do a good job in study, to get a higher position than others, and lay emphasis on child's obedience and tolerance. American parents expect child just to try his/her best, to get a normal position, and lay emphasis on child's independence and respecting others; (7)Relation:Chinese parents are more apt to disrespect and distrust child, overprotect child than American, and there are some disagreements between Chinese parents. (8)Cognition:Chinese parents tend to cognize child subjectively and permanently, American parents tend to cognize child objectively and developmentally. At last, give some revelations to parents in reality.
