Textbook illustrations are pictures attached to textbooks or teaching materials to present text, stories or theories in a visual way. Ideological and political textbook illustrations are pictures, cartoons, charts, illustrations, etc. attached to the PEP 08 high school ideological and political textbooks to illustrate the ideological and political course content, views and to serve the goals of ideological and political course.Ideological and political textbooks illustrations have the characteristics of objective authenticity, vivid times characters, typical generality, theme universality, political correctness and value emotionality. The types include preface, text and exploration illustrations; single and more illustrations; scientific knowledge, ideology and individual life illustrations; statistical chart, real imaging, and cartoon illustrations; "Understanding", "developing emotion", "guide line" illustrations, etc.Through the survey of current situation of politics textbook illustrations use, some problems are found. For example, students like illustrations but they don't know how to use them; they lack light rational analysis and initiative exploration spirit etc. Teachers sometimes despise, slide over illustrations; misunderstand, misguide; lack examination, give no evaluation; separate illustrations from life, don't develop them; misuse illustrations, lack actual effect, etc.To the above problems, illustrations use should follow the following basic principles. Illustrations use should serve curriculum objectives and contribute to the realization of ideological and political course value; should be under the guidance of the "great teaching material view", pay attention to but not get bogged down in the ideological and political textbooks; should have the cognitive psychology as a guide, develop and use illustrations according to middle school students' psychological characteristics; should consider teachers and students as the main body, the teachers and students use illustrations together; should use classroom teaching as the carrier, adhere to the unity of the development process and teaching process. The specific strategies that illustrations use have are examining carefully, evaluate appropriately; processing elaborately, having secondary development; improving the effect, bettering utilization.
