Research On Ideas Of Xue Heng (Critical Review)School

There were numerous members in xue heng (critical review) school. However, researches regarding to the figures in xue heng school as well as relationships between them and xue heng magazine were not comprehensive, research achievements towards major figures'ideology such as Liu Yizheng, Miao Fenglin and Jing Changji along with their relations with Xue Heng magazine were insufficient. Mainly commencing from Liu Yizheng, Miao Fenglin and Jing Changji, this article emphasizes on the studies of their relationships with the magazine and their positions and roles played in xue heng magazine, in addition, concerning their thought in philosophy, literature, education and other aspects separately according to their representatives of xue heng school.Liu Yizheng was not only the important figure of xue heng school but also adviser of Miao Fenglin and Jing Changji in Nanjing higher normal college. Under the guidance of the Liu, Mr. Miao and Mr. Jing specialized in academics, therefore, they together became the vital part of the xue heng magazine and Mr. Liu together with his two students had been the indispensable proponents of that magazine for eleven years.Liu Yizheng had a solid foundation of sinology, and he was the pillar of xue heng magazine concerning advocating "quintessence" of Chinese culture. In historiography, he claimed the independent and objective research methods, paying attention to the social function of history. For education, he putted forward the suggestion of education reform, asserting lifelong personality education, considering education should be independent from administration, also proposing a concrete methods aiming at the problems in modern education. Ethical morality was the core of his concept, and he believed that China traditional culture had an enduring value, advocating the preservation and promotion of the essence of Chinese traditional culture.Miao Fenglin spliced the difference of western humanitarian and individualism from the perspective of view of life, presenting the accomplished philosophy in which individualism should be treated as a starting point and humanitarian as the end point, And he emphasized the spirit was the first and the material was the second. According to the present situation since the new literature movement had began, he claimed that literature should value the moral, advocating the literature should avoid all sorts of academic abuse and the purpose of literature feeling should be neutralize. On philosophy, Miao emphasized that the philosophy gist concerning universality and research, also asserted the nature of philosophy and science was imitation, therefore, he presented his education philosophy with the core of empiricism. Based on the rationality of the religious, Jing Changji demonstrated the necessity of the existence of religion, opposing abolished religion. Through the study of the western philosophy and Buddhistcal School of "Consciousness-Only", Jing putted forward his life philosophy, and considered the moral philosophy as the core of the philosophy of life. From the perspective of philosophy, he systematically discussed the causes of morality, coming into being of morality, and morality standards, advocated for treating the morality system in a rational way.
