Legal protection for consumers'right to know can balance the power between production operators and consumers, and the negative influence of information asymmetry can be reduced. The administrative information publicity and protection for right to know in economic law realize consumers'right to know from different perspectives. However, the right to know is essential but lack of independence, so it is hard to be well-protected. In food consumption, the food producer and seller have enough ability and chance to cover some information to maintain their advantages in the transaction, while the consumers'rights are easy to be damaged.This dissertation researches legal protection for right to know in food consumption as following parts: the first part is brief introduction. This part introduces the background, main purpose, structures and methods, which is the start point of the whole dissertation; the second part is the current situation of legal protection for right to know in food consumption. This part analyzes the cases of Sanlu milk power and waste oil in recent years, and maintains that because there is a lack of well-protection for right to know in food consumption, consumers'right to know is infringed easily. The third part is the barricades in legal protection for right to know in food consumption. This part insists that the right to know is essential and it is the core right of the consumers, but it is lack of independence and hard to be protected by remedy mechanism. The third part is comparative research in legal protection for consumers'right to know. This part introduces some foreign law and maintains that the legal system of food security in foreign countries is on basis of protection for right to know. Some administrative and economic measures are taken to protect consumers'right to know. The last part is the specific measures to protect food consumers'right to know. This part put forwards some measures such as strengthen legal responsibility, strengthen information publicity in transgenic food consumption and food recall; encourage people participate in food security management; promote the upgrade of food security information management with some hi-technology such as internet of things; bulk food and food produced in tiny workshop should also be well-supervised.
