The Transition Of Farmers' Values In Contemporary Social Transformation

During the period of social transformation, a series of changes have taken place in farmers'ideas as well as in rural society , involving all aspects of rural politics, economy, culture, and social life .The co-existence of their traditional values and contemporary values demonstrate the characteristics of"multiple co-existence, and transition from the old to the new". So to speak, the contemporary transition of Chinese farmers is a process of the interaction between farmers'awakening rational values and rural transformation and the interaction of a variety of factors: On the one hand, the complexity and profound level of Chinese contemporary social transformation is extremely rare, its social and cultural significance will be reflected by the changes of farmers'values ;On the other hand, as the precipitation in the deep cultural psychology, the transition of peasants'values will greatly influence and change their behavior ,lifestyle, and the habit of thinking, and also will orient and restrict social dynamic developments as well as transformation .This article starts from the social transformation of the Theory of Marxism , summarizing the studies of characteristic of farmers'traditional and contemporary values. In the research on the feature of farmers'contemporary values, the author takes Henan for example, diagnosing the local farmers by means of the questionnaire survey and documentary searching and reviewing. The author acquired rich and reliable first-hand data processing through this investigation and verified pre-existing contemporary farmers'values. Analyzing the conflict of farmer value viewpoint during social transformation, and presenting some suggestions on how to lead them to set up values which are adapted to social transition nowadays.
