During the Yan'an period while persevering in resistance, the Chinese Communist Party aggressively combated corruption and upheld integrity effectively in the North Shaanxi base camp. The Chinese Communist Party demonstrated a great work ethic proving they could work honorably and diligently. The study analyzes the necessity to take these anti-corruption actions by reviewing the historical situation in the natural, political environment and the economy. Additionally, the study reveals that both political and economic aspects were corrupted as well as their work ethic.In order to combating corruption and upholding the integrity,the Chinese Communist Party and the Border Region government carried out diverse tactics to combat corruption and uphold integrity during the Yan'an Period. For example, political education was strengthened; governmental systems and regulations were revised. Laws were made to strictly punish criminals, a judicial system was established and democratic politics was carried out. Compared to the degenerated and corrupted Chinese Nationalist Party, the Chinese Communist Party established the most democratic and devoted government at that time. This ensured the final victory of the Anti-Japanese war.The various measures taken to fight against the corruption of the Yan'an period are seen as a great triumph for the Chinese people and fundamentally could contribute to combat corruption today. First, the Chinese Communist Party stressed the importance for both the education for corruption prevention and the establishment of law systems to protect public integrity. Second, they paid equal attention to the newfound, democratic judicial system and punishment for crimes. Third, they emphasized the need for leaders to set a good example and recognized these hardworking leaders. On the contemporary implications of these aforementioned anti-corruption efforts, political education should be utilized more frequently to provide a sound ideological foundation to avoid corruption. Laws and regulations should be revised to perfect the system and to ensure victory over corruption. In order to eliminate corruption, we must resolutely rely on the people of the community and judicial systems. In addition, authorities should continue to lead by example as a key element to effectively combat corruption. Finally, those people who break laws ought to be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted. |
