The language for investigative interrogation is special forms with which the police render the criminals confess their offences by means of questioning. In the course of interrogation, how to make the suspect confess the crimes is a quite important task for the police in the criminal investigations. The author has been devoted to the education for many years and accumulated much firsthand information by making survey with the grassroots police. This article analyses the principle and context of the investigative interrogation by making use of the theories in pragmatics so that, in a sense, it could make a contribution to the deep research on the language for investigative interrogation.This article can be divided into five parts:The first part is exordium which comprehensively elaborates the current situation of the research on the language for the investigative interrogation; confirm the object of research, the research thinking and methods, and makes clear the importance of the research.In the second part, the author tries to explore the conversational principles of the language for the investigative interrogation. The following points are mainly discussed:firstly, the relationship between conversations and investigative interrogation. Secondly, the contravention between the object and the principle is illustrated through the contravention of the quality, quantity and relation maim in the specific cases. Thirdly, investigative interrogation complies with the complimentary criteria and sympathetic criteria.In the third part, the restriction of the context on the use of the language is mainly discussed. This chapter lays more emphasis on the definition of the investigative interrogation, expounds the restriction of the context on the pronunciation, especially on the accent and intonation. Furthermore, this restriction influences the expression, the explicit semantic representations, and the equivocal semantic representations and euphemistic expressions. The sentences-types and the characteristic of the interrogative sentences are fully discussed as well.The author explores the use of the silent language in the fourth part, especially the non-linguistic context. In the first place, the use of the silent language by the criminal suspects includes facial expressions, eyes, postures etc. in the second place; the use of the silent language by the criminal police includes sitting position, stance, gestures, space position.etc.In the last part, the author summarizes the whole article and draws a conclusion, meanwhile, makes clear that there are many problems and deficiency which should be further discussed and solved in the near future.
