With the first generation of migrant workers gradually withdraw from the city stage,large number of the new generation of migrant workers have been growing as the backbone of urban construction,and play an irreplaceable role in social development.However,migrant workers either promote the social development or bring about heavy pressure to our society.According to the survey,the new generation of migrant workers between 16 to 30 years old account for more than 50% cases in urban criminal crimes. In addition, the event of Eleven-Jump in Foxconn in 2010 that take place in the youth reflects the new generation of migrant workers suffered from mental confusion and realistic difficulties. It also embodies the profound problems that new generation of migrant workers have become serious social problems nowadays. It is necessary for us to ponder the issue.This research focuses on the adaptation of new generation of migrant workers in city cultural. It is based on cross-cultural adaptation theory, assimilation theory and urban theory, making most use of survey research methods and individual interview to conduct a thorough investigation to the new generation of migrant workers,so as to show the current situation and problems of their culture adaptation. This paper is divided into four parts.The first part mainly introduce about the literature review and the significance of the research,as well as how and why to do it. It also covers the definition and the theoretical basis of this study at present.The second part mainly analyzes the current situation about the cultural adaptation of new generation of migrant workers by means of surveys and interviews. In order to discuss the issue at this stage,I divide this section into three parts,including professional environment, social life and personal emotion and psychology. The research indicates that most new generation of migrants have difficult in adapting to the cultural on the whole. From the professional environment,the biggest problem is how to handle relationship and long working hours. From the social life,they are able to keep the moving pace of city life and style,but hardly adapt to the communication and consumption in big cities,as well as the how to deal with the leisure time. From the personal emotion and psychology,they have a great fluctuation of mood, psychological pressure,and low life satisfaction. It takes more serious in emotional loneliness and working pressure. The job approval rating in the city where they work in and self-abasement also embody their inadaptability in city culture.The third part mainly aims at the factors of the cultural adaptation of the new generation of migrant workers,including four aspects:personal development vision,self-adaptability,realistic emotional atmosphere and external environment.The fourth part mainly proposed the intervention opinions according to the above analysis,which summarize the level of the government,society,adult education and the new generation themselves.
