The Longnan Baima people is a unique minority of a long history and folk customs. Nuo masks play an important role in their spiritual life and is an important part of Nuo culture. Nuo masks of Baima people were originated from nature worship, ancestor worship and primitive religion and were fused together with the cross-influence of Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism culture in their development. The shapes of the images were based on tokenism, myths and legends of Baima people, historical story, Buddhism and Taoism culture. The artistic expression embraces realism and exaggeration, distortion and fiction, and programmable features. Nuo masks are rare masks with distinctive minority features and strong geographical and cultural characteristics. The mysterious and strange Nuo masks contain Baima people's life ideology, religion, aesthetic taste, and the pursuit of a better life. When Nuo masks appear in the mysterious witchcraft ceremony or in a passionate community ceremony, we felt the power of ancient cultural heritage, inexplicable moved by Baima people's attitude toward life.Based on the above researching background, the study of Nuo masks can not stay on the surface of modeling masks. It is necessary to explore the deep meaning of life for Baima people by analyzing the lines, colors, images, background, and other factors, combined with the occurrence and evolution of Nuo masks, through witchcraft rituals, religious beliefs, social structure, and a variety of folklore and cultural forms. Like other primitive arts, Nuo masks of Baima people have their own unique state of mind in creation, visual patterns, configuration rules, and modeling mechanisms......, but it is precisely this kind of creation together with other spiritual forms that constitutes Baima culture as a whole. Then how to analyze the structure of symbols and the basic forms and how to explore the mentality and creating awareness of primitive people in a particular situation constitute an important part of our study.
