| National cultural words refer to those which reflect a nation-specific material culture and form in a unique cultural background. It is difficult to find their complete correspondence in another language, because they carry profound cultural connotations and are influenced and limited by such factors as social history, religious belief, life style, geography, aesthetic orientation and so on.This thesis divides into four parts to discuss the teaching of national cultural words in the Teaching of Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL). The value and significance of studying the national cultural words as well as the related theories used in this study are illustrated in the first part; in the second part, the cultural factors in the TCSL and the relationship between language and culture are then discussed; in the third part, the definition,classification and characteristics of them are first studied, and then the importance of them in the TCSL and their correspondences in different languages; in the last part, the methods and strategies of the teaching of national cultural words in TCSL are proposed from two aspects: the teaching of the national cultural words in the class and the awareness of cross-cultural communication training. |
