Many Chinese words can be used as adverbials and complements. Different distribution leads to different semantic and pragmatic. Why certain words can only be used as adverbials, why certain words can only be used as complements, why certain words can not only used as adverbials but also used as complements, which have something with semantic and pragmatic. On this side, many scholars have already made a sufficient research, but still has the supplementary space. The new contribution of this thesis mainly embodies in the confirmation of English language: Although English adverbial is generally situated after the predicate, adverbs without suffix-ly can be only situated after the predicate;cannot lead; Some adverbs can be only located before the predicate, and some adverbs can be after or before.Different distribution of English adverbs has different meanings; And this kind of situation coincided with the position of adverbials and complements in Chinese.First, chapter one reviews the classification of adverbs with or without suffix-ly and research status of adverbials, complements and translocation between adverbials and complements in syntax and semantic aspects. It proposes a new viewpoint to demonstrate translocation between adverbials and complements from the distribution of English adverbs.Second, chapter two,it discusses the semantic and pragmatic analysis of translocation between adverbials and complements. In semantic analysis aspect, it discussed the relationship between the predicate and words can only be used as adverbials, words can only be used as complements and words can be used as adverbials and complements, summarising the translocation semantic premise.Third, from chapter three to four, it discusses the definition and classification of English adverbs (mainly for the adverbs with or without suffix-ly).The syntactic position of the adverbs with or without suffix-ly is corresponding to the position of Chinese adverbials and complements; The semantic analysis of the adverbs with or without suffix-ly is corresponding to the semantic analysis of Chinese adverbials and complements.Though thorough research of Chinese translocation between adverbials and complements, the distribution of English adverbs, this thesis confirms Chinese translocation between adverbials and complements from the distribution of English adverbs.
