In recent years, the procrastination has gotten more and more attention from scholars. In the field ofcognitive psychology, prospective memory is also a research hotspot in recent years. Prospective memoryis memory on the intentions and plans, referring to remember to perform a planned action at a future time.Prospective memory can be divided into the event-based prospective memory and time-based prospectivememory.Studies have shown that prospective memory is closely related to these factors, such as theindividual's time management skills, personality and impulsivity, which have also been studied to provethat cause individuals to procrastinate. Based on this, this research expected that procrastinators andnon-procrastinators should perform differently in prospective memory, and have advantages anddisadvantages between event-based prospective memory and time-based prospective memory. This studywould use experimental research methods and ERP to explore these issues. This study was the2(groups: procrastinators group, non-procrastinators group)×3(experimentalconditions: background task, event-based prospective memory task, time-based prospective memory task)mixed design. The group was the between-group variables, and the experimental condition was thewithin-group variables. In addition, on the past findings of prospective memory ERP and purpose of thisstudy, this study chose F5, Fz, F6, FC3, FC4, CP5, CPz, CP6, P07, POz, P08, O1, Oz,02, etc.14electrodes,and P2, N300, prospective positivity P450to study. The results showed that:1. In the event-based prospective memory task, the reaction time of procrastinators group on thebackground task was longer than the non-procrastinators group and it showed marginally significantdifference; the reaction time of procrastinators group on the prospective memory task was also longer thanthe non-procrastinators group and it showed significant difference; but there was no significant differenceon the correct rate and ERP data between procrastinators group and non-procrastinators group.2. In the time-based prospective memory task, the reaction time of procrastinators group on the background task was longer than the non-procrastinators group and it showed significant difference; but there was nosignificant difference on the correct rate and ERP data between procrastinators group and non-procrastinators group.3. There was no significant difference between the event-based prospective memory task and thetime-based prospective memory task on performance of all subjects. In summary, this study used experimental research methods and ERP to explore issues, which richedthe research of procrastination and prospective memory and provided a methodological reference for futureresearch.
