The thesis mainly studied the aesthetic concepts and causes of product design in new period by some research tools such as field research, document analysis, comparative research and theoretical studies, and discussed the inner motivations of the aesthetic concept changes in product design from the general theories which are production development and social evolution, and applied the Marxist basic theories of aesthetic to analysis the aesthetic conceptions and aesthetic values of current product design in specific connotations, and revealed the basic characteristics and logical proceed of Chinese aesthetic concepts evolution in the product designing from the actual background of reform and opening up, on the basis of discussion on possible paths to improve the aesthetic value of Chinese product design, and on this basis to explore possible paths to improve the aesthetic values of Chinese product design. To achieve the following goals which are to driving the adjustment of national development strategies, accelerating the transformation of economic development mode and enriching the Marx's aesthetics theory in China.The research is divided into five parts:the first is to bring forward the question. Part one is asking questions, external factors, urgently needs which are from national development strategy adjustment and transformation of economic development mode, internal causes, requirements which are from diversity and overall levels of human demands; Second part is the study on basic connotation of aesthetic concepts in product design, and using the basic viewpoints of Marxist aesthetics to discuss the aesthetic connotations in product design which are functional beauty, form beauty, technology beauty and society beauty from the perspective of design aesthetic discipline; Third part is to explore the aesthetic evolution process of product design which is that conflict between tradition and modernity since the reform and opening up. We can be divided into four stages in accordance with the chronological order of development in the new period which are 1978~1991,1992~2001,2002~2007 and since 2008. The signs of stage division are reform and opening up, south tour speeches, China's accession to the WTO and the world financial crisis, these major changes have had a major impact of the incident on the aesthetic concepts; Part IV is analysis on the motivations for the changes of aesthetic conceptions in the new period product design. Using the basic theory of mode of development and social change to explain some of the factors during this period effect on the evolution of the aesthetic concepts in product design which are paths and dynamic and value orientation of social development, production technology, social structure, and western aesthetic values; Part V is put forward to improve the aesthetic value of possible paths in the product design. At last, we reflect on the dialectical relationship between the process of human development and development target in the product design from the aesthetic point of view, to find the methods and ways of correcting to alienation and improving aesthetic value orientation in product design.
