With the development of international communication, different languages and cultures influence the evolution of English, which gives rise to many English varieties and China English is one of them. China English plays an important role in introducing and spreading Chinese culture around the world. Therefore, it has caught the attention of many scholars both at home and abroad. However, most of scholars focus on the superficial levels of China English, such as its definition, linguistic characteristics and its differences to Chinglish. Few scholars study the deeper levels of China English by analyzing the factors that influence the language choices in it.According to Verschueren's Adaptation Theory, language use is the continuous making of linguistic choices, consciously or unconsciously, for language-internal or external-external reasons. As a kind of translation, China English involves two languages and cultures, thus its creation involves the translator's careful consideration of many factors and careful choices of language. Based on the data collected from China Daily, the present thesis firstly intends to find out the translation strategies/characteristics of China English. Then, it applies Adaptation Theory to study China English in order to find out the adaptations made by the translator and the factors influencing the translator's language choices in creating China English. The author finds out that foreignization is more popular than domestication in creating China English .There are various adaptations in China English, which are influenced by language-internal and language-external factors. The language-internal factors are the linguistic characteristics of Chinese and English language and the language-external factors are the mental, social and physical world of the source text writer and target text reader, the passing time, changing contexts, translation purposes, the translator's knowledge and preferences. These factors require the translation strategies of China English be flexible and reflect that China English is dynamic and negotiable. Therefore, the author thinks that Adaptation Theory is applicable to explain the language choices made in creating China English.
