| In the nineteen thirties and forties, when the country is in the civil subject, the form of the Chinese women writing themselves has transformed into autobiography, from the creation of autobiographical novels in early times.Compared with the autobiographical novels, which express themselves in a fictional and covered form, it is no doubt that the writing of autobiography provides the female writers with a better way of expressing themselves. Therefore, the creation of female autobiography appears to be a prosperous situation during this period.Autobiography is the works of author narrating their lives. Actually the process of writing is the process of author interpreting themselves. In the actual writing process, autobiographer will confirm their identities at first, then, choose and interpret the autobiographical facts. In the autobiography, the construction of identities mainly reflects in the recognition of themselves. Therefore, viewing the female autobiography writing as a process of interpreting themselves and constructing their identities will be beneficial for us to go into the authors'inner world.However, female autobiography writing has not got enough attention from the academic circles during a long period of time. This thesis selects the female autobiography created in1930s and1940s as the research subject trying to discuss how the female writers imagine themselves, writing themselves and construct their identities.The thesis is organized in five sections. In the first section, the author will make a simple introduction to the autobiography, including its definition, features, related research at home and abroad, involved theories in this paper and the scope of the study. In the second section, the author will analyze specific reasons for the rise of the female autobiography from the inside and outside respects. In the third section, the author will make a discussion according to the normal writing process. Concretely speaking, the author will firstly generalize the common autobiographical facts chosen by the female authors, then try to illustrate that the selection and interpretation of the autobiographical facts is connected with the autobiographers'confirmation of their identities. Finally, discuss the inner motivation of the female autobiography writing from different "selves" in the different time and space. In the forth section, in order to highlight the characteristics of the female autobiography writing, the author will compare it with the male autobiography. In the last part, the author will make a conclusion and propose the research forecast. |
