With the rapid development of economy and society, English becomes more andmore important. In recent years, how to improve English performance becomes animportant study point for psychology researchers in education application field. For thepast few years, solution-focused approach received an increasing number of attentions,and be widely used in the education field. While, the psychological mechanism andeffective training mode of this approach for improving students' academic performancestill needs to be further discussed.Based on a review of related literatures, we chose the college students as the researchobject. First we explore the psychological mechanism of improve the college students'English academic self-efficacy. Through two kinds of solution-focused intervention, wediscuss the effect of solution-focused approach on the college students' English academicself-efficacy. It provides the psychology theoretical basis and practical experience forunderstanding and promoting the college students' English academic self-efficacy.This paper composes of three studies. First study, based on a review of literatures,we chose self-efficacy, hope, optimistic and so on as the evaluation index of solution-focused approach. Through the questionnaire investigation, we investigate more than1000undergraduate students in Hangzhou by using "College Students' English AcademicSelf-efficacy Questionare","College Students' Psychological Capital Questionare", and"PANAS". Through analysis the relationship of college students' empowerment, positiveaffect and English academic self-efficacy, we analysis and discuss the psychologicalmechanism of solution-focused approach for improving the college students' Englishacademic self-efficacy. Second study, we adopt "solution-focused guided imagerycoaching" to intervene the college students, and explore the effect on their Englishacademic self-efficacy. Third study, we explore and discuss the immediate effect and thelasting effect on the improving of the college students' English academic self-efficacy bymeans of solution-focused group coaching. The followings are the main results of this study:The result of first study:(1) College students' English academic self-efficacy has thedemographic difference, including gender differences (t=-2.613,P <0.01), the differenceof english level(F(2,813)=253.23,P <0.01).(2)In the five evaluation index of solution-focused approach, elf-efficacy(t=4.839,P <0.01), hope(t=3.360,P <0.01), optimistic(t=2.478,P <0.05), positive affect(t=16.743,P <0.01)can forecast college students'English academic self-efficacy.(3) C ollege students' empowerment, positive affect andEnglish academic self-efficacy have positive correlation(r=0.305-0.456), andempowerment is the middle variable.The result of second study: the experiment group and the control group' score hassignificant difference (t=2.867,P <0.01) in Psychological Capital Questionare throughsolution-focused guided imagery.The result of third study: the experiment group and the control group' score hassignificant difference (P <0.05) in all the three questionare through solution-focusedgroup coaching.The followings are the main conclusions of this study:(1)College students' English academic self-efficacy has the demographic difference,including gender differences and the difference of English level.(2)The four evaluation index of solution-focused approach (self-efficacy, hope,optimistic, positive affect) can forecast college students' English academic self-efficacy.(3)College students' empowerment, positive affect and English academic self-efficacy have positive correlation.(4)Once solution-focused guided imagery coaching can improve college students'English academic self-efficacy.(5)Solution-focused group coaching can improve college students' English academicself-efficacy.
