The frequent international communications demands a lot of talents with high intercultural communicative competence (ICC). Moreover, cultivating talents with ICC has become the aim of Chinese FLT. The concept of intercultural communication is so popular that scholars have done a lot of research on intercultural communicative competence. However, most research objects are students in middle schools and universities not vocational college English majors. This thesis studies vocational college English majors' ICC level and this study can complement the research on the ICC of university students in China. It is of practical significance. This thesis first proposes a new ICC model on the basis of several prominent scholars' theoretical theories on IC and ICC. Then based on Fantini'ICC model, the author modified the questionnaire from the Federation of the Experiment in International Living (FEIL) to make a suitable questionnaire for the English majors in vocational colleges. With the questionnaire the following three questions would like to be addressed:(a) What is the overall ICC level of vocational college English majors? (b) What are the weaknesses and strengths of vocational college English majors'ICC, knowledge, attitude, skills or awareness? (c) What is the relationship between language proficiency and ICC level? Then 108 English majors from three vocational colleges completed the questionnaire. SPSS 16.0 was employed to analyze the data collected. The results show:(a) The current ICC level of vocational college English majors is relatively low, just around the OK competence; (b) Among the four dimensions students behave worst in knowledge dimension and worse in skills dimension; (c) ICC is highly correlated with language proficiency, especially with reading and listening comprehension. In view of students'poor performance in intercultural knowledge and skills, the author made some suggestions which will have illuminative function in the development of students'ICC.
