After 1978, Yi people in Dayao County of Yunnan province have achieved great development in many areas. More and more young people are going out to study or work, whose language status there have been great changes than in the past. What happened to the language usage of youth of Yi in Dayao, there is no In-depth study.Yi language in Dayao belonges to Yi language dialect of Lolo and Li Pu. The same rate of vocabularies of the two dialect is over 90%, and they can speak to each other directly. Among them, people who speak Lolo dialect call themselves as " Luo Luopu ", "Lalo Pu " and " Popi", living mainly in the North-Western County border in the mountains and the mid-levels; people who speak Li Pu dialect call themselves " Li Pu " and " Gesu Pu ", living mainly in the mountain area of Jingling River and Yupao River.By researching the Yi population, geographical location, population and other factors, The author has choosed Santai townships as Li Pu areas for investigation. This township located in Northwest of Dayao County, is one of the most remote County towns, and has traffic blocking. The author selects Yi youth of Santai as the main studies. Through describing the language use situation and characteristics of local Yi youth in detail, we can give a reasonable judgment and interpretation, and raised some issues on the local development of Yi people's language, further suggesting some kind of inference and countermeasures.
