Sergei, Vassilievitch, Rachmaninoff is the one of eximious musicians on Russian national music in the late 19th century to mid-twentieth century, and also a prolific composer, a predominant pianist, an excellent conductor. His writing style belong to the late romanticism, with a thoroughly personal idiom, a pronounced lyrical quality, expressive breadth, structural ingenuity and a palette of rich, distinctive orchestral colors. Moreover, he added to the modern technique of harmony on the basis of inheriting the tradition of Russian national music. It is more important that he is the last great musician with continuously insisted the style of Russian national music and romanticism music.Selected "Variations on Theme of Corelli" as a research subject by this article, which is composed in 1931, is the last piano solo in composer's later years. Besides, this work whether in the playing technique or musical intension, is without parallel of the greatest artistic value.This article analyze in details and research in depth by means of two aspects of this work: firstly, in respect of musical analysis, contains all kinds of the knowledge of music theory, such as music form, linguistics of music, musical image and so forth; On the other hand, in respect of playing skill, gives some feasibility solutions and effective exercise means on finger method, speed, dynamics.
