On The Cultural Factors Of Chinese Characters And Chinese Characters Teaching

Chinese characters have special qualities and characteristics. Teaching students how to read and write Chinese characters is an important part of teaching Chinese as a second language. Recently, the teaching of Chinese characters has become more developed. One of the results is that character teaching has become a seperate class, much like grammar class or oral class. This dissertation is about using the cultural roots of Chinese characters to teach them to second language learners. The main cultural factors are agriculture, literature, feudalism, marriage or family cultures, diet, daily life, and number culture. The skills of teaching Chinese character related to the cultural factors are the shape and structure as a breakthrough, reproducing complex characters, extending deep culture, understanding and applying the rules.
