The Biographical Sketch Of Zhang Jin

Zhang Jin is a romancist lived in Yangcheng of Qing Dynasty who has been regarded as an important romancist in QianLong Period (1745-1796)of Qing Dynasty. New Romance of the Western Chamber and New Romance of the Lute are two of his existing romances which were of great importance in the romance history in Qing Dynasty owing to its 'New'. These two romances are more of mirrors of all these twists and turns he had experienced than of two operas of Qing Dynast. His sad and dreary frame of mind of missing his parents at the Yijiang waterfront after being banished from the court has been well reflected. The two operas are two excellent opera literary work which interweave social historic environment, opera literary creation train of thought as well as the writer's particular thought-line to reflect the spirit of his day. However, as for the life story of the writer, essays and writings are rare except a comparatively complete biography in Yangcheng County Annals·Loyalty and Steadfast of Jiaqing period(1796-1820) in Qing Dynasty.The essay is going to be divided in five parts, namely:Preface, Official-pursuing period of ZhangJin(1745-1754), Official career entering period, relegating period (1754-1796),Period of living in seclusion (1797--). Literatures including chorography, stone inscriptions, writings, accompany keeping are gathered to research into Zhangjin's life story including birth and death, family, accompany keeping as well as literature creations so as to dwell on his complete life story. A comparatively complete reproduction on Zhangjin's life story is a prerequisite for us to do further study on his two 'new'romances. It is of literature documents'value and referencing importance for us to understand and compose romance development history of Qianlong period (1736-1796)in Qing dynasty.
