Kozumi Yakumo, a representative of Western Japanese authors in the late Meiji Japan, occupies an important role in the history of the world literature. His aesthetic thinking whose main contents are emotion-based theory and leisure theory, once threw a great impact on Chinese literature during 1920s and 1930s. In recent years, the domestic study of Kozumi Yakumo in academic circles mainly focuses on his research on Japanese culture while not enough in his aesthetic thinking.On the basis of sorting out and summarizing the Chinese versions of Kozumi Yakumo's works, this paper analyzes the dissemination of Kozumi Yakumo's aesthetic thinking in China and then by exploring his relationship with Zhou Zuoren to ascertain that Kozumi Yakumo's aesthetic thinking had promoted the development of modern Chinese essays to a certain extent by the methods of text scrutiny, influence study and the like.
