"Mirage"was written in the early years of Jiaqing Dynasty, following the"Golden Lotus","Dream of Red Mansions","Lin Lanxiang", is a quite laudable novel. It also is the first novel that descripts businessmen in positive stance and rich characteristics of the era and geographical characteristics , "Mirage" describes the life of the emerging comprador bourgeoisie - foreign businessman who live in Guangdong which is the only trading port in China. Based on comprehensive data collection, with the method of literature and history comparative study of each, and in regional literature ,this article comprehensively and objectively assesses the status and value of"Mirage"in the history of novel.This article systematically reviews the present study of "Mirage", and makes a comprehensive introduction of its version, author, book time, and propagation . In the discourse creative intent of "Mirage", not only the formal name from the novel examines the author's intention, more importantly, it placed the long river of history of Chinese fiction aspect of dialysis. Then, this article analyses the image of the novel's two protagonists. In light of China Merchants fiction history, the history of the worldly novels, the history of romances novels ,and combines with the Lingnan culture,take the conclusion that the image of Su Jishi in "Mirage" is just the combination between scholars and businessmen. Through the image of Su Jishi , we recognize the special social stance of The Thirteen foreign . While the Image of Wen Suxin is flesh and blood, Even the author pay much more attention to the performance of the causes of characters. "Mirage" also shows us a colorful picture of Lingnan style, which reflects the mercantilist thought in Lingnan region which is different from the Central Plains. "Mirage" also let us lament the extremely flourish of the Lingnan, particularly with Thirteen in which the wealth is astonishing enough. We could felt the anchaoyongdong that from the bottom classes and the soonly coming social changes. In the Chapter VI of this article-- " the arts features of "Mirage "", through fully integrated with the the network structure of "Mirage " . It demonstrates the concepts and methods of shaping the characters of the novel. Then, combines with the aesthetics of Chinese fiction and the regional characteristics of Lingnan , the paper discusses the language arts. Finally, the thesis objective and impartial evaluats the status and value of "Mirage" in the history of novel.
