With the development of ecological civilization of the modern society, the work of the consumptive ethics and ecological ethics has become increasingly important and urgent. Alan·Durning criticized comprehensively the distorted consumptive values,and believe that the consumptive ethics emphasis on the reflection of that the society pay more attention to the material wealth and be faced with lack of spiritual beliefs, however, the ecological ethics emphasis on the deep causes of the consumptive ethics, namely the abuse of the consumptive ethics leads to ecological crisis. This article is striving to explain comprehensively the book How Much Is Enough—The consumer Society and the Future of the Earth in the view of ethics, in searching for the internal relation between the two ethics and pointed out that the well-being is not only the consumption, but also the satisfaction of the spirit brought by the persistent culture. Only the pursuit of a lasting culture is the guarantee of the sustainable development of humans on the earth. The moderation for the greed is the greatest contribution to human society of modern society.
