"The Standard"refers to the basic structural unit of language which is the foundation of language study .there are mainly eight explicit ideals of"Standard"in the history of Chinese grammar, in which the"Zi—centered"theory is put forward for the characteristics of Chinese language and regards"Zi"as the basic structural unit of Chinese language study."The Standard"is not only a question of language study, but also a question of language teaching, because the language teaching study is instructed by the theory of language study .So this paper consists of three parts to discuss the"Zi—centered"theory , The first part discussed the relations between"Zi—centered"theory and other standards .The second part reveals the causes,backgrounds,significances and deficiencies of"Zi—centered"theory and expressed the main theory viewpoints .The third part discussed its impact on teaching Chinese as a foreign language .
