Since the 60 years of the last century, the nationality and "cultural identity," especially the latter concern has been widespread, and African Americans with a special status so that they reach the hot fit.20th century 50's to 80's, African-American struggle for freedom and democracy in unprecedented times, many of the best African American writers have emerged. In these works, not only African Americans stated that the white mainstream society groups in the unfair treatment and racial discrimination, more importantly, the black writers expounding on the cultural identity of the ethnic group's concern. With the "double consciousness" of African Americans placed surrounded by white mainstream culture, have lost their original culture, resulting in lost identity on the road of self, values and culture of ownership has gone wrong, or even a hate yourself in the black skin negative emotions and black compatriots. Contemporary society, African Americans can not escape the white society, African American writers are also actively seeking to resolve lack of a breakthrough in the black identity that, in the spirit return to black culture, face their own history. In this paper, cultural identity as a framework to analyze the spiritual journey of African American roots in nostalgia, ethnic consciousness, trying to explore in his family, caught between national culture and the spiritual journey of African Americans on the specility.
