| Shi Zi Yi Yu is edited by Hu Fengdan, which is a rare works about teaching materials of primary school among his many books. This book collects many aspects, such as character, phonology and literatures, which are accepted by Hu Fengdn while he was reading the previous reading notes made. Although it was not written by Hufeng Dan, this book is still worth researching because of its rich content.This thesis makes a brief study of Shi Zi Yi Yu, mainly including taboo in Vol.6, Vol.7 and entry scanty card in Vol.8. The thesis is divided into four parts.Part One introduces background information of the author and his works. One the one hand, it is a brief introduction of the author's life and his writings; on the other hand, it is a detailed analysis of the content, style, and structure, etc. of Shi Zi Yi Yu.Part Two deals with taboos, mainly introducing and analyzing Gu Ren Bi Hui Zi, one of the collections of Shi Zi Yi Yu in Vol.6, in detail. First of all, this part introduces the definition of taboo and the content of Gu Ren Bi Hui Zi briefly. Secondly, the content of Gu Ren Bi Hui Zi is classified into four categories according to different methods to avoid taboo words, namely using synonyms, other names, homophones to replace taboos, and changing the character pattern to substitute taboo words. After the classification, the content of this volume can be understood fully. Thirdly, this part studies the synonymy relationship between the taboo words and alternative words by the approach of changing character patterns, in order to find out the rules of replacing taboos, that is, using synonyms to substitute taboo words, which could shed a new light to lexical research. Finally, this part analyzes the social and political reasons, and the influence to the language and vocabulary. The Part Three is the study of morphology, mainly analyzing and recognizing the characters and vocabularies presented in Vol.7 and Vol.8. This part explains the selected eight entries, like Xing Li, Chu Shou, Han Bei Yi Zi, involving interchangeable words, antonyms, and inverse morphemes word pairs and so on. It is hoped that through the analysis of typical cases, researchers could draw inferences about other cases from one instance in the study of ancient words. Part Four is a conclusion which summarizes this thesis briefly, and analyzes the significance and limitations of Shi Zi Yi Yu with examples. |
