A Phonological Study Of Xiaoshun Dialect Of Jinhua City In Zhejiang Province

Three thousand miles of water lead to the South, the momentum pressures fourteen Island River City. Li Qingzhao, the famous poetess in Song Period once vividly summarized the important position and the magnificence of Jinhua. Jinhua is a provincial lever city in the central of Zhejiang Province. It's to the west of Taizhou, the north of Lishui, the east of Quzhou and the south of Hangzhou, Shaoxing.The Town of Xiaoshun is in the central of Jinhua and Yiwu, which is the International Trade City. It is 21kms from the two cities. The dialect in the town belongs to the Southern Wu Dialect, which is called The Wu (婺) Dialect. The academic research of the Southern Wu Dialect still needs to be in-depth study. Based on the field investigation and a large number of the substantial linguistic data, Using the synchronic description and comparing with the surrounding regional dialects of the Xiaoshun Town, we try to make a detailed discussion and study about Xiaoshun Dialect.The paper is mainly composed of six parts. The first chapter describes the geographical demographic profile of the town, the history of the town, the literature review, research methods and the processes of our investigation.The second chapter describes the phonological features of the Xiaoshun Dialect. The third chapter describes sound variant. The fourth chapter discusses the tone-sandhi of the two-word group. The fifth chapter describes the homophone. The last chapter makes a comparison with the surrounding regional dialects of the town to watch the differences among Jinhua city, Xietang town, Xiaoshun town and Yiwu city.
