Since Seven Years'War ended and France was forced to cede its colony—Canada to the Great Britain, French Canadians have been devoting themselves to revolting against reign of British Canadians until now. During this period, the British government adopted all sorts of policies, trying to help to bring about conciliation of these two nations; however, it finally turned out to be a failure so that the troubles caused by French Canadians have come to be an agitating and complicated crux that will exist permanently within a long period.Firstly, this thesis starts with differences between British and French nations, conflicts of their religions, diversities of their historical cultures, conservative thoughts of French Canadians as well. Secondly, historical progresses thread the thesis so as to elaborate the increasing and progressive courses of national consciousness of French Canadians, which to a large extent reveals the political essence of national consciousness of French Canadians. Thirdly, through several actions taken by French Canadians, such as referendum farce performed by extreme separatists among French Canadians, the proposal of"a Nation within a Nation"as well as The Constitution crisis, this thesis discloses French Canadian misdeeds driven by national consciousness which pushes Canada to the edge of division several times. Finally, this thesis indicates that French Canadians will never transcend globalization and will remain in Canadian federal system in such a world full of economic integration.Although the public have given little support to separative activities of French Canadians, extreme separatists among French Canadians will never take things lying down; instead, they will stir up the stuff and continue to threaten unity and security of Canada. The Canadian government will also size up the situation and actively respond to the challenge. It can be predicted that national separatists among French Canadians have become spent bullets within the international trend of globalization and that the mergence of national groups has gradually become the mainstream so that French and British Canadians will move forward hand in hand and create a bright future for Canadian society together.
