The Inspiration From Iceland—the Research Of Mental Health Education In Icelandic Compulsory School

With the continuous developments and changes in modern society, psychological problems of the pupils in the elementary schools and secondary schools have attracted the attention of the entire community. In the future, the society will ask for higher mental quality from the young people. Proved by school education at home and abroad, mental health education is not just a method and technology, and more importantly, it embodies a concept of advanced scientific education. The popularity of mental health education will help the concepts and methods of education to update. Therefore, making great efforts to strengthen mental health education, has become a worldwide consensus. At the same time, the countries in the world now regard the mental health education as an important sign of the modern education. However, at present, the overall level of mental health education in China seems to be rather backward compared to its in Western countries. Schools and teachers here don't give enough concerns on this subject.Iceland, a Nordic country, which located in the junction of the Atlantic and the Arctic Ocean, is famous for its high happiness index. And the high happiness index of its people is because of the high welfare and high degree of civilization. Humanities and social atmosphere begin to influence the children when they are educated, including the mental health education programs, those all have given the pupils a positive contribution.So this research through opening and developing study of Icelandic compulsory education mental health education programs, explore its rules, and review of their advanced experience as a lesson on mental health education curricula and research and development of the primary and secondary schools is very beneficial. The research studies on the objectives, content, implementation and evaluation of the mental health education in Icelandic compulsory schools through using the methods of literature, investigation and interview, and sums up the characteristics and experience, then combined with the reality of China, finally carry out some reasonable suggestions to our mental health education of the primary and secondary schools here.
