Luigi Pirandello (1867-1936), the winner of 1934 Nobel Prize in Literature, was an influential Italian dramatist and a very productive writer in the first half of 20th century. His novels helped establish his surging reputation in literature during 1990s. Starting playwriting after 1910, he achieved the highest career accomplishment in this field. As one of the most innovative dramatists of modernism, Pirandello creatively integrated improv comedy and structure of "play-within-a-play", which enriched dramatic performances.
