Three Arguments On Yongtao's Poetry

Being a successful poet in Bashu district of later Tang dynasty, YongTao's poems were paid much attention by people of his time and later. We only can research his poetry creating method and personal feeling from the preserved poems, which contain more than one hundred and thirty poems for the reason that a lot of his poems were lost during the process of spreading. Nowadays, there is no complete poetry anthology of YongTao's poems, so most recently researches on his poems were only textual criticism. Based on the predecessors research results and literature material, this thesis research YongTao's poems from three aspects.The first part is to research on the sojourn consciousness of YongTao's poetry. Firstly, we define the sojourn consciousness from narrow sense and broad sense, then to understand the generating reason of sojourn consciousness of Tang dynasty, to discover the effect of imperial examinations and officers systems on this consciousness, to provide time elements for the generating of sojourn consciousness of YongTao's poetry. Based on this we will discuss the individual factors of his sojourn consciousness. The emphasis of this chapter is to analyze the content of YongTao's sojourn consciousness from three aspects, namely, aloneness, sense of without belonging and defeat, and then to research YongTao's complex feelings.The second part is to study the space-time structure of YongTao's poetry. There are lots of space-time relations in YongTao's poetry, which paid a lot to his poetry creating. This paper deconstructed the space-time relations of YongTao's poetry from the space transfer of time proceeding, the time transfer of stable space and the combination of different time and space three aspects. The target is to have a deeply understanding of YongTao's feeling change and poems creating skills through study on the different forms of expression with the three space-times above mentioned.The third part is to research on the language arts of YongTao's poetry. His poems showed different styles, the earlier stage of his poetry aspire the pureness of the former time of later Tang dynasty, and it combined with Po Chüyi's language style of naturalness and simplicity to form a elegant poetry style. He adjusted the gorgeousness of Li shangyin and the poverty of Jia dao's poetry style to a plainness style during the later stage of his poetry creating. He made good use of repetition and reduplication to strengthen the affection of poems, and he took advantage of the function words to last the poetry intention and the transition of the emotion. Besides, the using of numeral contributed a lot to extend the connotation and the affection of the poetry.
