The Research Of The Classification Of Classifier And The Collocation Of Noun Classifier

The research object of this paper is based on the classifiers which is designated in Modern Chinese Dictionary (MCD).Researchers attach the significance to Chinese classifier gradually since the 1950s, it has been established an independent part of speech. After near 60 year, the study of Chinese classifier has experienced very positive change, from static research to dynamic, from functional study to cognitive. Although the object of study of the classifier is continuously developing and studied deeply, the basic questions, such as the scope and the classification of classifiers has not yet been solved thoroughly, the lag in the research of basic questions has given rise to the indefiniteness of scope of classifiers, and the huge disagreements still existed in the classifier research circles. Moreover, with the introduction of the semantics, cognitive linguistics and other foreign research theory, classifiers and relevant part-of-speech collocation study entered upon a new phase. While the present research result is only the tip of the iceberg, there left much blank on the research of collocation. Based on this, on the basis of inheriting the research achievements of the predecessors, the author combined it with personal views, did some research about the classification of classifier scope and concrete classifiers in MCD, in an effort to make contribution toward classifier researching.This paper is divided into three parts:the first part is introduction, this part treat of the process of the classification of classifiers and previous study. The priority of this part is given to the review. The second part:the classification of the classifier in MCD. Firstly, this part cleared about the scope of the classifiers, noted that temporary nominal classifiers, quantifiers and borrow momentum words are not belong to the scope of classifier, this section clarified the object of study classifier. Secondly, combining semantics with function of sentence to categorize the classifiers in MCD. Lastly, based on the semantics and cognitive linguistic theory to analyze the classifiers and related collocation reason.
