Research On Qujialing Culture In Midstream Area Of Hanshui River

In this paper, I used stratigrapy and typology method and took Nanyang Xichuan Gouwan site as the basic point to do a typological stages research of Qujialing culture in midstream area of Hanshui River. On the basis of this research, I used the research methods of settlement archeology to analyze the features of settlement in each period, to research the arrangement and variation of each period. Simultaneously I conferred the relationship of Qujialing culture in this area and the cultures in the same phase adjoined to Qujialing culture in order to reflect the development appearance of Qujialing culture in Hanshui River impersonally and fully.The research indicated that Qujialing culture in Hanshui River can be divided into three periods including the early, the middle and the later period. The distribute range of these three periods didn't have obvious change. Qujialing culture was took form in the early period. The middle period was the most flourish stage of Qujialing culture and appeared the pot and high handle cup. In the later period, Qujialing culture became to decline. On the basis of this typological analysis, it can be seen that Qujialing culture in this area was different to which in the central region. It belonged to Qinglongquan type of Qujialing culture.The Qujialing culture's settlement sites in midstream area of Hanshui River didn't have obvious discrepancy of distribution in its early and later period. So it can be divided into three ranks. The highest rank was Huanglianshu settlement site The second ranks were Qinglongquan and Gouwan settlement. The third ranks were Dasi, Zhaowan settlement which were small. The whole crowd of settlements might belong to a group of settlements. Each settlement in this group of settlements had a compact relation to each other.It was also indicated Qujialing culture in midstream of Hanshui River had absorbed the factors of Yangshaso culture and the second period of Miaodigou culture in the development process. The Dawenkou culture which was in downstream area of Huang River was also affected the Qujialing culture. With the Qujialing culture spreading to north, the northern cultures were affected by Qujialing culture and appeared lots of utensils with factors of Qujialing culture. Qujialing culture was one of the most important cultures from the later period of New Stone Age to Chalcolithic Age in the midstream area of Hanshui River. The midstream area of Hanshui River was in the interchange channel between the cultural circle of Huanghe River and Changjiang River. By the research of Qujialing culture in this area could reveal the cultures' development regularities of this area from the later period of New Stone Age to Chalcolithic Age, and understanded the relation of cultures which in Hanshui River area and central region. Furthermore we could disclose this area had an important value in the origin of ancient civilization.
