The Comparison Between Ancient Ruan

The subject of this thesis are the Ancient Ruan (古代阮)and Modern Ruan(现代阮)In this thesis, the Ancient Ruan refers to the instrument which was found since the Han Dynasty (汉朝)and the Modern Ruan refers to the instrument which was ameliorated in the 1920s after the westernization of Chinese instrumental music.From the point of view of organology, history and the structure of instrument, Ancient Ruan and Modern Ruan were different. In this thesis, the writer aims to discover the similarities and differences of these two instruments, and to affirm the identities of both, historical significance and practical orientation.
