| This thesis was planned to study the words materials in the Korean textbooks for senior high school students in a method of statistical linguistics, to know the actual state of the words on textbooks.The frequency of loanwords couldn't be evaluated very high.The borrowed words used in senior high school Korean textbooks have close relation with the characters of subject matters.From analyzing the borrowed words in textbooks by a part of speech, we once again confirm that most of them are nouns, and that the words that are borrowed from foreign languages are mostly nouns. People's names are in the biggest proportion among proper nouns because of the influence of the text coordination. Science vocabulary holds the biggest part in the category of common noun. Many of them were from English. This shows that our culrure centered in Britain an America has much influence on our linguistic activities.There are several problens in using loanwords. The lack of efforts for replacing loanwords by korean words or sino-korean words. Loanwords are used less in the textbook4 than textbookl.To correct the verbal lives of students, good alternative words that could replace borrowed words should be supplied, and loanwords should be substituted by native words or sino-korean words as much as possible to enhance the language of learners. They should be educated to make th right, limited use of loanwords, instead of unconditionlly having them stay away from words of foreign origin. |
