Marguerite Yourcenar is one of the best famous contemporary writer in France. She is good at varieties of literary. Her novels have good repute, whether novel or short story has made great achievements. She is different from ordinary female writers who write the main character in her novels is male. My paper in order to make a classification of the male images in her novels: represented by Hadrian as the emperor image and represented by Zenon as nobility image and represented by Alexis as the civilian image. These images basically have the same temperament: pursuit the inner noble spirit; artistic tendencies of the spiritual; homosexual qualities of love. She has write the male character images is because of her own experience and masculinity temperament and homosexuality love. She focus on the universal law of human life and choose the grand historical themes, but the basic human history has created by men, so most of her novels is male as the protagonist to observe and understand the world. Her attitude to men is fairly, neither belittle nor overstating, but she objectively describe them to play a role in the history. She is beyond her own gender of writing.
