A Study Of The Art By Maryn Varbanov From 1986-1989

This study focused on the art by Maryn Varbanov from 1986 to 1989,and discussed on the artistic phenomena of this particular period of time bythe perspectives of art and sociological thinking. In ChapterⅠ, bysummarizing Maryn's geographical and cultural boundary‐crossing life, itrevealed the context and the background of his artistic development. InChapterⅡ, by picking up the Maryn's concepts from his maturity during1960's to 1970's, the article started the investigation of the artist's later workswith the analysis of creative method, art media and spatial thinking,discussed the open experimental tendency of in his later creativity. ChapterⅢandⅣare the research focus, which discussed the main connotations ofthe most important part of Maryn's later works– a few hundred pieces ofsketch for his coming solo exhibition, and the last series in his life– ThePerpetual Movement Series. In general, these works manifest an extremespatial tension, marking the peak of the artist's later creation. They carry thelife dynamics and passions of Maryn, transformed to an eternal power.The aims of this study are to find out inspirations of the long‐termdevelopment of Contemporary Fibre Art, in order to eventually devote to thepractice and the investigation of Contemporary Fibre Art with criticalperspectives and solid academic foundations, as well as to participate inrelated discussions actively in the future.
