The time of 1980s is the most significant era of change in modern history of China, and it is also in its true sense of creative year. The ideological liberation movement in politics and the enlightenment humanism thoughts in culture laid a deep spiritual foundation for China becoming a modern country, and the modern art movement in arts field is not only a reaction in visual field, but also one of its display.In this historical change, the unique spiritual temperament and complete theoretical practice of the members of "Northern Art Group" were considered as one of the leaders of this movement, and in some sense they stood for the "second official". It has to be said that Shu Qun and Wang Guangyi had spent boundless imagination and strong execution, which helped them to turn around after China's marketization of society in the 90s.According to the overall culture background in the 1980s, this paper emphatically discusses the concept and works matching growth of Chinese contemporary art, which are created by Shuqun and Wangguangyi who are influenced by the western philosophy and the western contemporary art in 1980s. Unlike previous text writing, this paper mainly takes the two artists as the key event, reviews the whole development process of the 1980s'art. As a historical manager and witnesses, their theory, works, planning exercise, this series of behavior commonly finished the unique historic position of "north artistic groups".
