The Restriction Of Quantitive Phrases To Grammatical Structures

The grammatical functions of quantitive phrases deserve deep study since there are abundant quantifiers in Chinese. To find out the restriction of quantitive phrases to grammatical structures will help us to get a better understanding of the sentence structure as well as the syntax system in Chinese. In this paper, we put most focus on the restriction of quantitive phrases to grammatical structures from two aspects:the restriction of composability of quantitive phrases and the restriction of syntactic function of quantitive phrases, aimed to provide more new materials and angels for the research on grammatical functions of quantitive phrases.The main research work is carried out as follows:Firstly, it introduces the expression of quantitive category in Chinese, figures out the range of quantitive category in this paper, and analyzes the main grammatical functions and other grammatical meanings of quantitive phrases in Chinese.Secondly, it lists the related lingual phenomenon and classifies these structures which are restricted by quantitive phrases. And then based on informed research, it analyzes and explains the lingual phenomenon from the semantic function of quantitive phrases self combined with the theories of functional grammar and cognitive grammar and other grammatical theories.Thirdly, it focuses on the restriction of syntactic function of quantitive phrases, discusses the features and rules of the distribution of quantitive phrases and describes the adaptability of quantitive phrases to different syntactical structures and the restriction of quantitive phrases to semantics of some syntactical structures.Lastly, the whole paper is concluded. Although the paper classifies these structures which are restricted by quantitive phrases and tries best to give reasonable analysis and explanation of the referred lingual phenomenon from different angels, it still needs deeper explosion and research on the restriction of quantitive phrases to grammatical structures, since the restriction of quantitive phrases to grammatical structures exists in every level of language and it is difficult to get the entire description of this phenomenon.
