In the New Period, Li Rui is an important writer. As a writer with a full consciousness of literature and unique literary pursuit, he "refuse chorus" and make a voice in the New Period literary, with a sober independent stance.In Li Rui's novels, from the Thick Earth to Farm Tools Series, it can be found that Li Rui always expressed his concern for life predicament of human. It depends on his life experiences and literature concept. "Cultural Revolution", the experience of educated youths and the shock by his family history had impacted him. "Two-way suffering" and spiritual dilemmas is his writing motivation, and "to cross-examine human's dilemma" is his literary pursuit. He started from the "Cultural Revolutioin" and expressed the respects for human's destiny.With respect and sympathy to life, Li Rui tried his best to push all the obstacles, which covered life, and to express the human life predicament. In his opinion, it contains several aspects:the plight of external environment brings live pressure; The irrational history bring to people's suffering and paradoxical spirit of fate; The dilemma from weakness of humanity. The people struggled in their life, as if trapped in destiny. This is human's life difficulity.Li Rui's tragedy human destiny experience, reflected in his novel, formed a kind of sad and despair style of narrative. He is a writer who has a pursuit of the form of novel, and he always believe that form is the channel to touch real life. His pursuit to novel narrative form, is actually his ask for life. From his novels, we found that all novels had changed form the only discourse to many voice, and it represents that Li Rui has constantly surpassed himself, eager to break a single discourse to cover efforts life.
