This paper is based on the field work of Ruke village in Weixi Tacheng Town of Diqing prefecture, try to do developmental studies for time and to do cross-sectional studies for content. The paper includes three parts:they are based on the time period: the period before the Founding of the New China; the period between the Founding of the New China and the year of 2002 and the third period is the year of 2002 to date. The main contents of this paper are:The first part is to introduce the Malimasa people in Tacheng Town, its includes: the population, language and character, and the distribution of the Malimasa people and the ecological environment around them.The second part is to discuss the history memory and the traditional culture (before the Founding of the New China) of the Malimasa people. In this part, the author is begin to touch on the culture of the Malimasa people, to retrospect the history memory and the traditional of the Malimasa people through to do field work and to refer to the literatures.The third part is to discuss the Malimasa culture in the turbulence times (between the Founding of the New China and the year of 2002). This chapter was included into two parts:the time of Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, and the period between the when the Cultural Revolution was finished and the year of 2002. The national culture was suffered distinctive damages, also did the Malimasa culture, It was in a stage of "break"; The Malimasa culture was resumed after the Cultural Revolution. Social developments made the Malimasa people have more and more association with the outside world, so, the Malimasa people adaptated the different culture of other ethnic groups who live around them, so bring about the changes of the Malimasa troditional culture.The last part is from the year of 2003, it was a vitally important envent that the provincial leader come to visit the Ruke Village and it was evoked the cultural consciousness of the Malimasa people. So, the Malimasa people was arranged and reconstructed their troditional culture under the circumstances of keeping their mainstream culture, so as to express their political appeal.
