This thesis chose 136 students from a secondary vocational school and 154 students from a senior middle school in the city of Panjin as subjects, measured their self-esteem situation, family environment and the level of mental health respectively using Cooper smith's Self-Esteem Inventory (SEI), Family Environment Scale (FES-CV), and Mental Health Inventory of Middle School Students written by Wang Jisheng. The research not only investigated the situation of the secondary vocational school students' self-esteem, family environment and the level of mental health, but also explored the relations in them, in which the writer adopted Descriptive Statistics, Variance analysis, Correlate analysis, Regression analysis etc.The results are as follows:1. The self-esteem average of secondary vocational school students is lower than that of senior middle school students, but there is no obvious difference between them. Also, the self-esteem average of secondary vocational school students has no conspicuous difference in gender, grade and their interactive function.2. The average of the intimacy, emotion expression, knowledge, amusement and moral religions concept factors in the secondary vocational school students' family environment is lower than that in the senior middle school students' family environment. Conversely, the average of contradictoriness, independence, success, organization and control factors is higher. In a whole, the family environment situation of the secondary vocational school students is not as good as that of the senior middle school students. There is a clear difference between the two kinds of school students in emotion expression, contradictoriness and knowledge factors. The success factor of the secondary vocational school students' family environment shows obvious differences in gender, however, the other factors are unapparent in gender, grade and the interactive functions between them.3. The average of the secondary vocational school students' mental health total average is higher than that of the senior middle school students, but this does not show any obvious difference, in which,20.5% of the students in the secondary vocational school have no symptoms,57.7% of them have slight mental problems,17.7% of them have moderate mental problems,0.7% of them have severe mental problems; Also,22.8% of the students in the senior middle school have no symptoms,56.8% of them have slight mental problems and 13.9% of them have moderate mental problems. The students in the two kinds of schools show obvious differences in study pressure factors. The mental health paranoia and maladjustment factors of the secondary vocational school students show conspicuous differences in the main effect of gender.4. The mental health total average, interpersonal tensions and sensitive, depression, anxiety, study pressure, maladjustment, emotional imbalance factors of the secondary vocational school students has significant differences in self-esteem. Self-esteem and paranoia, hostility, interpersonal tensions and sensitive, depression, anxiety, study pressure, maladjustment, emotional imbalance factors and mental health total average has negative correlation. There is a significant linear relationship between self-esteem and mental health. Self-esteem has a direct impact on mental health.5. The mental health total average of secondary vocational school students has significant differences in the intimacy of family environment, conflict, independence factors. The partial factors of the family environment and that of mental health and mental health total average are significantly related. There is a multiple linear relationship between the partial factors of the family environment and mental health, family environment has a direct impact on mental health.
