Many researchers at home and abroad demonstrated that self-esteem works as a mechanism of buffering anxiety and protects the mental health. But there are few researches related to the analysis of the self-esteem state of the domestic normal colleges and mostly taking advantage of the foreign scales, which cannot get rid of the cultural differences between the east and the west. In addition, referring to some materials, we find good social support leads to higher self-esteem, which will lead to higher subjective well-being. But what is the relationship among these three elements? Therefore, this research discusses the trends and traits of the self-esteem development of the normal college students, and works on the relationship among the three elements above. This succession of researches probing into the problems of the self-esteem development of normal university students provides the theories and arguments for the study of the psychology well-being, also, it points the way to the education based on their mental health, which is of great significance toward the improvement of their self-esteem level and the decline of increasing mental health problems.First, in the study, the normal university students' self-esteem assessment questionnaire is designed to conduct an exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and discusses the structure of their self-esteem. Then, by means of questionnaire, a measurable research is conducted among 484 normal university students in self-esteem development traits in order to discuss the genders and ages developing characteristics. At last, correlation analysis and regression analysis is employed to study the relationships among self-esteem, social support and subjective well-being. The results go as follows:1. The compilation of the normal schools students self-esteem assessment questionnaire has good reliability and validity, which can be used as a tool of normal school students self-esteem measurement.2. Normal university students' self-esteem structure consists of three factors, competence, sense of belonging and the appearances, and this model is of rationality and validity. 3. In general, normal university students develop self-esteem showed significant difference in grade but little in genders. The better development state of the freshmen and juniors, while the seniors have the highest scores and the sophomores have a sharply decrease shows that the second year of such schools is the key phase of the self-esteem development.4. The three elements have a positive correlation with positive feelings and a negative correlation with negative feelings.5. Social support has a significant regression effect on Self-esteem and all dimension of subjective well-being. On the basis of social support, self-esteem has a more significant regression effect, that is to say, self-esteem plays a role as mediation between the other two elements. In other words, better social support leads to higher self-esteem, and higher self-esteem leads to higher subjective sense of well-being. |
