Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation of polymorphisms in sulfotransferase (SULT) 1A1, transmembrance serine protease 6 gene, intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM5) gene and the expression of BCSG1 and breast cancer susceptibility.Methods The distribution of SULT1A1, ICAM5 gene polymorphism in 200 normal controls and 160 breast cancer patients in female population was tested using allele specific amplification (ASA) with the DNA acquired from their Peripheral blood and analyzed statistically.Results (1)SULT1A1 There was a non-significant difference between the distributions of Arg /Arg, Arg/His, His/His genotypes in control group and that in the patients.(P=0.103); The allele frequency of His in control and patient group was 19.5%and 9.2%respectively (P =0.039); the genotypes of cases with lymph node metastasis showed a significant difference from that of patients without. (P=0.038). (2) ICAM 5 genotypes and allele distribution frequencies of gene between case and control group showed non significant difference (P=0.245,P=0.294); with respect to the tumor size, histological grade and lymph node metastasis, genotype GG was not statistically different in comparison with genotypes GA and AA which were carrying the mutant gene A. (3)TMPRSS6 genotypes and allele distribution frequencies of gene between case and control group showed non significant difference (P=0.398, P=0.529), three genotypes have not statistically different in the clinicopathologic study; (4) The positive rate of TMPRSS6 gene in the breast cancer tissues is lower than the breast adjacent tissues(P< 0.05); The expression of TMPRSS6 gene was statistically different in histological grade and lymph node metastasis(P=0.038, P=0.040).Conclusion SULT1A1 His allele is proberly associated with the incidence of breast cancer in Chinese women; the expression of TMPRSS6 gene is proberly associated with the incidence of breast cancer in Chinese women.
