Objective:Lactalbumin is one kind of good proteins, which can't be directly absorbed in intestinal tract for its macromolecule of the whole protein. Lactalbumin hydrolysate is the product of enzymatic digest of lactalbumin, which contains hydrone short peptides and free aminoacid easily directly absorbed by intestine. In this paper, we compared the influences on nitrogen metabolism of SD rat in growing period by intaking lactalbumin and its hydrolysate respectively, and observed the clinical effects of short-peptide type all nutrients. Methods:Forty clean SD rats randomly divided into experimental group (nitrogen source was lactalbumin hydrolysate) and control group (nitrogen source was concentrated lactalbumin). The compoundings of animal feeds referred to AIN-76 besides the nitrogen source. Everyday food-intake and every-week body weight of the rats were measured, and nitrogen content of the collecting 72 h-excrements were determined by Kjeldahl method after 7 weeks. Changes of body weights were observed and protein efficiency ratio (PER) as well as apparent digestibility (AD) were calculated.Besides, 25 ICU patients were treated with Short Peptide Enteral Nutrition Powder. The 14 male and 11female subjects were aged at 62.5±18.4 at an average. During the treatment, 2 patients were given parenteral nutrition as an alternative due to severe gastroi- ntestinal adverse reaction.Short Peptide Enteral Nutrition Powder was executed in the way of nasogastric feeding after an adaptation of hypotonic nutrition for 1-2 days. The total energy per day stood at the level of 1850±360Kcal, in which, protein took a percentage of 18±4.5, fats took a percent- tage of 22±6 and carbohydrates dominated a ration of 60±12% while vitamins and mineral elements had a must to be given according to the biological standard. 2. Index: serum prealbumin (PA),total serum protein (TP),sero-albuminous (ALB),hemoglobin (HB),tolerance of enteral nutrition.3. Times: therapeutic time of the 23 subjects accepting the whole enteral nutrition surport ranged from 6 to 15 days, average 13 days.Results:1.The body weights of experimental group were higher than control group significantly (P<0.001).2. The PER of experimental group were higher than control group signi- fi cantly (P<0.001).3. The AD of experimental group were higher than control group signify- cantly (P<0.001).Conclusion:1. The measurements of body weights from the two groups displayed that body weights of experimental group intaking with lactalbumin hydrolysate increased significantly comp- aring with the control group intaking with concentrated lactalbumin, indicating lactalbumin hydrolysate is easy to be utilized after digest and absorb.2. The PER of experimental group was higher than control group significantly, which reflects utilization rate of lactalbumin hydrolysate is higher than concentrated lactalbumin.3. The AD of experimental group was higher than control group significantly, which indicates lactalbumin hydrolysate is easier to be digested and absorbed in intestine.
