Objective To investigate the changes of plasma CXCL16 and matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2)level in patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS).To investigate whether serum levels of CXCL16 are associated with serum levels of MMP-2.Methods ELISA was used to examine the level of serum-soluble CXCL16 in 40 unstable angina pectoris patients (UAP),40 acute myocardial infarction patients(AMI) and 20 control patients. Results In patients with UAP and AMI, serum level of CXCL16 was significantly increased compared to control patients(UAP patients vs control,P<0.01. AMI patients vs control,P<0.01). In patients with AMI,serum level of CXCL16 was significantly increased compared to UAP patients(AMI patients vs UAPpatients,P<0.05). In patients with UAP and AMI, serum level of MMP-2 was significantly increased compared to control patients(UAP patients vs control,P<0.01. AMI patients vs control,P<0.01). In patients with AMI,serum level of MMP-2 was significantly increased compared to UAP patients(AMI patients vs UAPpatients,P<0.01). There is significant association between serum CXCL16 and MMP-2(r=0.622,P<0.01).Conclusion Increased level of serum-soluble CXCL16 was independently associated with ACS and it can be used as evaluation of atherosclerotic plaque stability indicators and have some have some correlations with aspirin.
