Using The Facial Golden Mask Simplyfy Facial Analysis

Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of the facial golden mask as a method for measuring facial attractiveness in an objective manner. Providing an objective reference for the preoperative design of facial contour reconstruction and objective evaluation of postoperative outcomes.Methods: Retrospective analysis is carried out on 40 patients who are divided into two groups.The patients of the first group have surgery based on doctors'personal aesthetic views and conventional measurement methods.The patients of the second group make a preoperative design by applying the facial golden mask in PhotoshopCS4.0 on preoperative photographs and then have surgery.The evaluation team scored every pre- and postoperative photograph of patients on a 5-point rating scale from the perspective of their personal aesthetic views.Score differences of preoperative and postoperative photos in every group and between two similar groups were analyzed by means of nonparametric test method with SPSS 13.0 statistical software.Results: Both beauty groups and reconstruction groups, scores of postoperative photos are higher than preoperative.The pre- and postoperative score differences in every group were analyzed statistically and showed statistically significance(P <0.05). Both preoperative scores of reconstruction group and beauty group were analyzed, however,no statistically significance was reached(P>0.05). Postoperative scores of two reconstruction groups reached statistically significant(P<0.05). There was no statistical significance observed between postoperative scores of two beauty groups(P> 0.05).Conclusion: The facial postoperative outcomes in each group are all improved. Application of the facial golden mask on patients of facial deformity for preoperative design can get better effects than the traditional methods.But this effect is not observed in beauty groups. The facial golden mask may be used as an analytical tool.
