Dysmenorrhea refers to women have abdominal or back pain, or even lumbosacral pain during menstruation. It happens with the menstrual cycle, severe women may be associated with cold body, nausea, vomiting, sweating, even fainting, which may effect work and life. Examining the reproductive organs with no obvious lesions are called primary dysmenorrhea ("PD" for short). PD is a Clinical Gynecology common disease in adolescent girls, single and married women without a child. Current clinical treatment of PD is oral antalgesics, the pain is common recurrence. We choose acupuncture with point catgut implantation treating PD, and achieved significant results. Objective:Acupuncture with point catgut implantation method and the simple oral drugs method for treatment of PD were both observed between the clinical recent effect and long-term effect. And the comparative advantages of acupuncture with point catgut implantation method could provid the basis for the treatment of PD.Methods:There were 60 cases of clinical PD patients collected by PD diagnostic standard. The 60 cases of PD patients were divided into acupuncture with point catgut implantation group ("the treatment group" for short) and oral antalgesics control group ("control group" for short) 30 cases for each. Treatment groups: Patients chose "Guilai", "Zigong", "Sanyinjiao", "Diji", "Zusanli", "Taichong"(both sides), "Guanyuan" acupoints, having a general acupuncture treatment. (It begans in a week before menstruation. Needles were retented 30min. They were treated once a day until the first day of menstruation.) And "Ciliao", "Shiqizhui" acupoints catgut implantation. (It begins in the first day of menstrual period, after the end of acupuncture.). Control group:Patients began to oral pills of indomethacin in the first day of menstrual period,25mg, tid, only druing pain days. And no recurrence was still on the first day of menstruation in a row to take 5 days. A menstrual cycle regarded as one course; treatment of one course effect for the recent effect,3 courses for the long-term effect. The recent and long-term clinical effect were both observed, including the total effect rates, the pain and the patient luteal phase estradiol (E2) levels. Results:After one course of treatment, the recent total effect rates of treatment group and control group were 68%,76%, both groups were compared with pain before treatment lower (P<0.05), E2 levels decreased (P<0.05). No significant difference between the two groups (P> 0.05). Treatment after three courses, the long-term total effect rates were 93%,63%, the treatment group compared with pain before treatment was obviously lower (P<0.01), E2 levels decreased significantly (P<0.01); the control group lower pain than before treatment (P<0.05), E2 levels decreased (P<0.05); in which the treatment group than in the control group, pain relief was more obvious (P<0.05), E2 levels also decreased more significantly (P<0.05)Conclusion:Acupuncture with points catgut implantation method and the simple oral antalgesics method are both good for treating PD. the two groups no significant difference between short-term effect, while acupuncture with point catgut embedding method for long-term effect is more significant than the oral method is more precise. Acupuncture with point catgut embedding method has the advantages such as selection less points, more simple operation, effective, consolidation and better compliance, fewer adverse reactions, so that it is a superior method of treating PD, and it It is worthy to be popularized.
